Maxon released Cinema 4D 2024.2 and we updated to the latest version

Important Notes

Cinema 4D 2024.2 will automatically replace any existing installation of Cinema 4D 2024.1, aiming to streamline updates and minimize disk usage. Users who prefer to keep multiple dot releases can customize their installation path. Prior release installers are available on the Cinema 4D website.

New Features

Simulation:

  • Rigid Body Object Deactivation: Set parameters for deactivation when objects are idle.

  • Damping Override: Apply damping to Rigid Body, Soft Body, Cloth, Rope, and Balloon tags.

  • Scaling Rigid Body Objects: Allows scaling of Rigid Body objects.

  • Forces in Cloners: Guide forces using a cloner.

Pyro:

  • Dynamic Surface Emission: New emission type for Pyro simulations.

  • Time Scale Settings: Control Density, Color, Rest Grid, Temperature, and Fuel time scales.

  • Fuel Contingent: Supports UpRes pyro simulations.

  • Dual Rest Grid: Post-process volume with noise patterns.

Animation:

  • Key Reducer: Reduces the number of keyframes on the timeline.

  • Locked Keys: Preserved locked keys remain unaffected by the Key Reducer.

Exchange:

  • Adobe Substance 3D Nodes: Integration with Redshift materials.

  • Color Management: Dropdown for color space adjustment upon import.

  • glTF Animations: Supports TRS (PRS) and multiple animations in different Takes.

Project Assets:

  • Font Management: Display and fix missing fonts in the Project Asset Inspector.

  • Asset Management: Identify and fix missing project assets.

Nodes:

  • Node Asset Version Pinning: Pin specific asset versions.

  • Missing Asset Detection: Warnings for missing assets on load and save.

  • Thicken and Symmetry Nodes: New nodes for geometry manipulation.

  • Memory Node: Supported in Capsules.

  • Resample Spline Node: Adjust spline resolution interactively.

  • Pop Element Node: Pops the last element from the input array.

General Enhancements:

  • Interrupt Loading: Users can interrupt loading of documents with Python scripts to prevent potential issues.

Known Issues/Warnings

  • Rest Grids for Pyro: Not supported in Redshift, but compatible with other render engines.

  • Fixed issues with Autokeying, Timeline keyframes, object simulations, and Stage object camera changes.

Asset Browser:

  • Corrected Tension tag category and Commander search relevance.

Attribute Manager:

  • Fixed issues with Node Editor showing only Node attributes.

  • Resolved stability issues with Cmotion, Bind command, Pose Morph, Mirror Tool, Cappuccino tool, and more.

Color Management:

  • Fixed various issues with Color Chooser, Picture Viewer performance, and color settings.
